Software Engineer

The Software Engineer shall be part of a team that develops and maintains "ORBCOMM Web Services", or OWS, an existing collection of tools that enable our customers and employees to easily manage provisioning and billing data related to ORBCOMM's satellite and partner wireless M2M services. These applications are developed in Java and implemented using the Apache Tomcat Servlet/JSP Container.

The Software Engineer is expected to interface with various departments to define requirements for the Web Services tools and shall create documentation such as functional requirement specifications, interface control documents, test plans, and release notes. In addition, applicant shall be expected to become familiar with web portals from our partners in the processes of "one-stop" automation and presentation.

Technical Qualifications: The applicant shall have experience in some or all of the following: Java, ApacheTomcat or similar, SOAP, JDBC, SQL, RDBMS, AJAX, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, Subversion or similar CM environment tools, and Debian Linux. Additional desired experience includes familiarity with Informix/Postgres/SQL, Billing Systems / Sage MAS 90/200.

U.S. citizenship (or legal permanent residence) and at least 5 years of experience developing web applications is required. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is preferred. Position is located in Dulles, Virginia. No travel is required.
